Happy Days are Here to Stay!!

It has been a long time since mommy has updated everyone so here we go! I have had an amazing summer and have been healthy and extremely happy!! I suffered a small pneumonia in March, but I am so strong and tough I was in and out of the hospital in 4 days! The Make-A-Wish Foundation chose me as their wish kid in June and I was given a Hot Tub! (hence, the pic above) It was the best day of my life! All my friends and family came over to celebrate with a BBQ and the fire department came and filled it up from the water hose on their truck! How lucky am I? My neurologist is pressuring mommy into enrolling me into school! I am doing so good, no one ever thought we would have to find a school for me! Isn't that exciting! Mommy and Daddy are so nervous, but I am excited to meet more friends and explore the world!  My 4th birthday is coming up in September, can you believe it? I am ready for the hot weather to be over and for fall to start, so I can keep rocking and rolling and get stronger and stronger! Mommy is trying to post a video of me in my walker (yes, I have a walker that I can move on my very own) and another video of me kissing her over and over on her cheek! I LOVE my IPAD!

Today mommy gave me my IPAD to play with and I got to play with the APP called Magic Piano! I LOVED it!! I am really into music and I get so proud of myself when I can make the music notes play with my very own fingers!!! Here is a video! xoxo

2012 has been good so far!

Hi everyone!  It has been awhile since we have updated the blog so mommy thought it was time! We have had a good start to the year and I have been healthy as can be! I got a little sick over the holidays but I managed to tough it out on my own and I didn't have to go to the hospital for treatment!! That is HUGE for me!  I also got chosen to be a part of The Make-A-Wish family, and I wished for a trip to the ocean! So in April we are going to Florida for a whole week to stay in a beach house and play in the ocean! Mommy and Daddy are so excited to get me in the ocean and to spend quality time together away from our day to day lives!  I am getting so big, I am getting a custom made wheelchair made for me this month too! I LOVE to laugh all of the time and play with Rex. (Our Dog)  I am getting so strong, and I love to read books and play, which is way more then the doctors ever imagined for me! I hope all of you who read my blog are doing well and I want to Thank you for following me! xoxo

Happy Days are here to Stay!

Hi everyone! I am having the best Summer ever! I am doing so well, I have been going to the pool and spending a lot of time outside. Mommy and Daddy even have let me go down the slide at the park all by myself! I haven't had to spend the night in the hospital in over 6 months, which makes everyone happy! Mommy took me to the Rehab doctor 2 weeks ago and they injected Botox into my thumbs and my pectoral muscles and there is a difference already! It has totally relaxed those muscles so now I am reaching for toys and people! I am so close to crawling too!  We are planning on spending the rest of our summer right here in Denver and just enjoying every day to the fullest!

It IS about Time!

Mommy has been really lazy and not updating my blog for me!! I have been doing so good, actually, better then good, so we all have been just trying to live our lives and enjoy every moment away from the hospital! We are going on 6 months of being hospital stay free, which is a record of my lifetime! I am now rolling over, from front to back AND back to front... So mommy thinks I am a handful! Mommy won't let the doctors run unnecessary tests on me which has led to a lot of DRAMA at the hospital, but I know mommy and daddy are my number one advocates and obviously want the best for me!! Sometimes doctors don't understand the term "Quality of Life". They focus on testing, testing, testing.... So I am doing great, I am back on my regular G-tube feeds and I LOVE to suck on grape popsicles and Fun Dip! (Probably not approved by the medical team, but mommy approved)!  I am getting Botox treatments injected into my pectoral muscles and my thumbs to loosen them up and hopefully it will help my posture. I am also going to start wearing a back brace to straigten out my spine... None of this hurts me, it is just cosmetic help. Mommy wishes the doctors would give her my Botox, but its not happening! LOL!  I will keep everyone posted on my progress, but so far year 2011 has been a great year for me and I am planning on keeping that way! xoxo Thank you for reading my blog!

Hello from The Children's Hospital PICU...

We have had a rough ride over the last couple of months.... Kingsley was hospitalized at the beginning of November due to what is call Ostomylitis, which is a bone infection that had got into his blood stream. But luckily we caught it in time and we were able to go home the DAY before Thanksgiving! But we were only home for just over a week and here we are back in the hospital AGAIN! He was admitted back at the beginning of December so we are going on just over a week in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.... He was put on life support last Monday, but as of 730pm today, we are planning on taking the tube out at around 8pm tonight!! Lets hope all goes well! Please say a little prayer for our special boy! Santa Claus and Mrs.Claus came by for a visit!

Kingsley is back in the PICU.... He has a STAFF infection in his bloodstream and pneumonia.... He is on a breathing machine and has had really high fevers for the last couple of days.... We will keep you posted on any changes as we find out... Please keep out little fighter in your prayers, we know we will all pull through this!

It has been WAY too long since Mommy has posted an update! So much has happened since the last post. I am now 2!! I had the best birthday party ever! All of my friends, family and neighbors came over for a BBQ and cake! I have been doing so good medically, no more hospital stays and my checkups have been great! I just got home from a 10 day trip to Canada where I got to spend time with my grandma (Tata) and Papa! I got to see the leaves changing colors (which I LOVED) and tons of wildlife! (Including a Black Bear) The bear would come and visit the Cabin at least 2 times a day! Mommy was really scared but Daddy wasn't!! We all had the best trip ever and now are at home getting ready for Halloween! I don't have a lot of appointments coming up so we are all just enjoying life and happy we are all healthy! Hi Everyone! I am doing so much better compared to where I was a week ago. I am still in Children's Hospital but no longer in the PICU, I got moved up to the 9th floor in room 940. I can see all of Denver from my room and the mountains too! I have pancreatitis so I have not been able to eat for almost 23 days, but the doctors just started a slow drip of Pedialyte into my tummy today. Hopefully it won't be bothersome to my pancreas and I can start eating formula real soon! Tomorrow marks 4 weeks in the hospital so we are all getting really anxious to get home! We are still in the PICU and don't have any answers. We are going on day 7 which is hard on all of us. Please say a prayer for little Kingsley! He is getting a spinal tap today and a ct scan on his abdomen. We will update when we know more! Xoxo. The Larsen's

Rough Times with the Larsen Family!

Kingsley has had a rough couple of days. He was recently taken to the ER department at Children's Hospital here in Denver, and was immediately put into the Trauma Unit. He proceeded to go into non-stop epileptic fits and needed help with his breathing at one point. The team put him on a severely high dose of anti-epileptic meds (3 times) and he finally came to. We are now in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and praying for him minute by minute. He is on high doses of Morphine to control his pain (we don't know where he hurts as of right now) and he is completely out of it. He will be undergoing an Lumbar Puncture (Spinal Tap) tonight for further testing. Please Say a Prayer for our little man, he is such a strong boy! We will keep you updated as soon as we know more!

Happy Easter and More.... April 6th, 2010

Happy Easter from the Larsen's! We had a great Easter here in Denver, the weather was warm and both of my grandma's and papa John came over. Mommy made Easter dinner and we all hung out and enjoyed the weather! We have had a couple of setbacks in the last couple of weeks when it comes to me. My last EEG was extremely abnormal still and my neurologist told us that we have exercised all of our options when it comes to treatment. Well, mommy will not accept that and she will not take no for an answer, so now we are sending all of my records to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, Johns Hopkins in Baltimore and The University of Chicago pediatric epilepsy center. We have already had numerous conversations with the doctors at Johns Hopkins and they are certain they will be able to help me.  Othen than that my health has been great, not even a cold!! I hope everyone had a great Easter and I will keep everyone informed with my progress! xoxo

Hi everyone! Tomorrow marks my 18 month birthday! Can you believe it has been a year and a half? I am doing very good, I finally weaned completely off of Keppra, so now I am only on the Ketogenic diet and 1 medication! HOORAY! The picture above is from Sunday, mommy ran in the Runnin' of the Green while daddy and I cheered her on! It was soooo cold, but a lot of fun! I have to to get another EEG done on Friday, but just as an outpatient (Thank goodness). My doctors appointments have been few and far between because I have been doing so well! Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!! I am doing great, the doctor's told mommy and daddy to start weaning me off my seizure medication Keppra and it is making me so much more alert! I am trying so hard to crawl, mommy thinks it won't be long until I am cruising around the house on my own!!! AMEN! I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Valentine's Day and thank everyone for their prayers!

I am feeling much,much better since my last stint in the hospital! By looking at me you would never even know I was sick! I finally got to meet my great-grandparents Larsen! They came to visit with my daddy's uncle Scott as well! We had such a good visit and I am so happy I was able to meet them! I am feeling great and started doing therapy again this week! We have a bunch of doctor's appointments coming up in the next couple of weeks,so I will keep everyone posted on what is going on. We meet with our neurologists on Thursday to see if I can start another medication wean! I sure hope so! Thank you for reading my blog! xoxoxo

Whew, what a week! Mommy and Daddy went to Aspen for their birthdays and the day they got home I started getting a rash on my face! Mommy took me to the doctor and we were told I am allergic to Penicilllin! But it didn't end there. The rash started to get really bad and mommy took me back to the doctor's office 3 times and on the 3rd time the doctor wanted to call an ambulance because I was purple and blue and throwing up and pooping all at the same time! But mommy and tata decided they could drive me to the ER faster then waiting for an ambulance. So we got to the ER and I stayed there for 6 hours for blood tests and xrays. They kept giving me painkillers and benedryl and then admitted me into the Children's Hospital for an overnight evaluation! I puffed up so big that my hands and feet looked like tennis balls and I couldn't bend my arms or legs! But as time took its course, I am slowly starting to get better and we got to come home from the hospital really late last night! I was really happy to sleep in my own bed! Happy 2010! (Finally an update!)

Hi Everyone! It sure has been a long time since mommy has posted an update! We had a great Christmas and New Year's! I am doing really good health wise! I weigh 17 pounds now and I am almost holding my head up completely on my own! I got so spoiled for Christmas, tons of toys and clothes and kisses! I loved how every night mommy read 'The night before Christmas', I wouldn't go to sleep until she read to me! I am doing really good on the Ketogenic diet, the doctors had me wean off of one med already and I am so much alert and I am awake for a longer period of time! We go back in February to see if I can start weaning off on another med, that means I will only be on one med and the diet! Cross your fingers!! I started going to school again, mommy and I go on Wednesday mornings and I take developmental classes with about 15 other kids. I am really started to improve in all aspects! I really love listening to music and I love my toys that light up and make noise! Last Saturday I finally made my mommy very happy because I said "Mama"!! Even daddy heard me so he knew mommy wasn't lying! I will keep everyone updated on my progress and thank you for following my blog!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!

Hi Everyone! So mommy dressed me up today and took my christmas pictures! I had so much fun! I also went to the eye doctor yesterday and he told us that I am doing great and I was looking at all of the different toys he was holding in front of me! So I don't have any eye issues!!! We also went and bought our Christmas tree and decorated it on Sunday! I have been doing great on my medication wean, so if things keep going this good, I might be medication free before we know it! I am only having about 10 or 15 seizures a day now, which is a huge step from the 100 to 150 a day I was having before the keto diet! This weekend mommy and daddy are taking me to the mall to sit on Santa's lap so there will be more pics to come!! xoxo

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!! We had the best Thanksgiving ever!! I got the news that I get to start eating solids again! So I am beginning on Monday, after Mommy talks to the dietitian about how to properly make my special meals! On Thanksgiving we got up early and watched the parade and I hung out with Mommy and Daddy until we went over to MaMa and PaPa's house for Dinner! They have their house decorated like a winter wonderland so I loved to look around at everything and be held by everyone!! I just got over my first major cold. I had an ear infection and a really bad cough, but the antibiotics the doctor gave me started to work only after a couple of days of taking them. I am feeling so much better now. The doctors are starting to wean some of my medicines because the ketogenic diet seems to be doing wonders and I don't need to be on meds at the same time! So we don't have a lot of appointments scheduled thank goodness! Happy Thanksgiving everyone and thanks for following my blog!! xoxo
